Stegosaurus or Stegosaurus armatius pronounced steh·guh·saw·ruhs was a large, quadrupedal, herbivorous dinosaur that lived in the late Jurassic Period, about 150 million years ago. The stegosaurus has been found in parts of the United States and Portugal. The name stegosaurus means armored roof lizard.

Stegosaurus ,despite many people believing otherwise, would have never even came close to coming in contact with a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The stegosaurus is famous for its defence mechanisms, a spiky tail and plates on its back.

The stegosaurus weighed around 6.4 tons, around 21 ft long, and around 14 ft tall. It was in the middle of the size spectrum for its time period. Some dinosaurs that are related to the stegosaurus are the Wuerhosaurus and Kentrosaurus.Overall 80 stegosaurus skeletons have been found.

The stegosaurus mostly feeds on plants and mosses. The stegosaurus teeth are perfectly made to eat plants

Its classification is in the stegosaur genus. The stegosaurus is guessed to be cold blooded. The stegosaurus has a top speed of 11 mph. The stegosaurus is said to not have feathers unlike other dinosaurs.
