
Plesiosaurus pronounced pleh·see·ow·saw·ruhs. Was a large, carnivorous marine reptile that lived in the Cretaceous Period, about 66 million years ago. The plesiosaurus has been found in the Pacific Ocean. The name plesiosaurus means close to lizard.
The plesiosaurus weighed around 1,100 pounds and was around 11 ft long. It is one of the average sized marine reptiles of its time period.
The plesiosaurus is one of the many marine reptile that is well known to the public. The plesiosaurus is not a dinosaur unlike popular beliefs.
The plesiosaurus mostly feeds on clams and snails, and is thought to have eaten belemnites, fish and other prey as well. It had around 50 teeth.
It is cold blooded and had a top speed of 25 mph.
