Tyrannosaurus rex ,pronounced tr·a·nuh·saw·ruhs reks, or T-Rex for short was a large, therepodial, carnivorous dinosaur that lived in the late Cretaceous Period, about 66 million years ago. The Tyrannosaurus Rex has been found all over the United States. The name Tyrannosaurus Rex means tyrant lizard.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex weighed around 8 tons, was from 35 – 40 ft long, and from 12 – 20 ft tall, making it the third largest carnivore. The tarbosaurus is considered to be the closest relative to the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Over 40 Tyrannosaurus Rex skeletons have been found. The Tyrannosaurus Rex has almost always been the most popular dinosaur in the world.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex mostly feeds on medium herbivorous dinosaurs, such as triceratops. There is debate on whether Tyrannosaurus Rex hunted or scavenged for food. The Tyrannosaurus Rex had 60 teeth and the teeth were about 12 in long. It had a strong jaw so it could easily crush the bones of its smaller prey.

Its small forearms may have been used to help get itself off the ground. The Tyrannosaurus Rex is guessed to be warm blooded. The Tyrannosaurus Rex has a top speed of 20 mph. The Tyrannosaurus Rex is said to have feathers like other dinosaurs.
