Giganotosaurus or Giganotosaurus carolinii pronounced jai·ga·nuh·tuh·saw·ruhs was a large, therepodial, carnivorous dinosaur that lived in the early Cretaceous Period, about 100 million years ago. The giganotosaurus has been found only in Argenta. The name giganotosaurus means giant southern lizard.

Giganotosaurus have been said to hunt both in packs and alone.

The giganotosaurus weighed around 8.8 tons, was around 46 ft long, and around 23 ft tall. It is one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs of all time. Some dinosaurs that are related to the giganotosaurus are the Tyrannotitan, Mapusaurus and Carcharodontosaurus.

Only two giganotosaurus skeletons have been found. The giganotosaurus has been gaining popularity due to its appearance in newer media.

The giganotosaurus mostly feeds on large herbivorous dinosaurs. The giganotosaurus had 76 teeth and the teeth were about 8 in long. It had a strong jaw so it could easily crush the bones of its smaller prey.

Its small fore arms may have been use to help get itself off the ground. The giganotosaurus is guessed to be warm blooded. The giganotosaurus has a top speed of 31 mph. The giganotosaurus is said to not have feathers unlike other dinosaurs.
